The Next Generation Arrives
Every great hospital is built on two foundations: visionary founders who establish the standard, and rising stars who carry it forward. In Series 3 — the final installment of our Meet the Experts trilogy — we profile four next-generation neurosurgeons who represent the future of Donglei Brain Hospital.
These young specialists bring international training from Japan, advanced neuroendoscopic skills, spine surgery expertise, and multilingual patient communication to their practice. They are the surgeons who will define the next decade of neurological care at BDG — and who are already making their mark today.
Clinical Focus
Comprehensive management of cerebrovascular disease, brain tumors, and traumatic brain injury — with special expertise in neurocritical care, severe brain injury, intracranial infection, and cerebrospinal fluid dynamics. Proficient in both microsurgical and endoscopic approaches for brain and spinal cord tumors, including third ventriculostomy for hydrocephalus and microscopic/endoscopic treatment of brainstem hemorrhage.
International Training
A visiting scholar at three distinguished Japanese institutions — Southern Tohoku Medical Group, Tokyo General Hospital, and Shin-Yurigaoka General Hospital — Dr. Yin brings Japanese precision and protocol-driven neurocritical care to Donglei Brain Hospital. His nearly 20 years of clinical practice combine Chinese neurosurgical breadth with Japanese ICU methodology.

Clinical Focus
Advanced microsurgical and endoscopic resection of neuro-oncological tumors — meningioma, glioma, acoustic neuroma, cavernous sinus tumors, trigeminal schwannoma, pituitary adenoma, clival tumors, and falx/tentorial region tumors. Also specializes in microvascular decompression for trigeminal neuralgia and hemifacial spasm, as well as endoscopic treatment of hydrocephalus and cranioplasty.
Dual-Technique Mastery
A Nanjing Medical University neurosurgery graduate, Dr. Liu represents the new generation of neurosurgeons who are equally comfortable with the microscope and the endoscope. His ability to seamlessly switch between approaches — choosing the optimal tool for each tumor and each patient — makes him a key member of the neuroendoscopy academic center.

Clinical Focus
Comprehensive neurosurgical care spanning spinal cord and spinal column disorders, traumatic brain injury, cerebrovascular disease, brain tumors, and hydrocephalus. Dr. Zheng is equally skilled in managing neurocritical patients and performing elective neurosurgical procedures, providing full-spectrum care from emergency to recovery.
Academic Engagement
A Soochow University neurosurgery graduate, Dr. Zheng has participated in three research projects and actively contributes to the academic growth of the department. Her membership in the Shanghai Social Medical Association Neurosurgery Branch reflects her commitment to advancing neurosurgical standards across Shanghai's private medical institutions.

15 Experts. Three Generations. One Hospital.
From Prof. Song Donglei's 20,000+ surgical legacy to Dr. Maimaitiaili's emerging interventional expertise — the 15 neurosurgeons of Shanghai Donglei Brain Hospital represent the full arc of neurosurgical excellence: founding vision, clinical mastery, and rising talent.
The Belt & Road Connection
Dr. Maimaitiaili's presence on the team is particularly significant for Donglei Brain Hospital's Belt and Road Health Corridor initiative. With his Xinjiang roots and multilingual capabilities, he embodies the hospital's commitment to serving patients from Central Asia, the Middle East, and beyond — building bridges of neurological care across continents.
The End of the Beginning
This concludes our three-part "Meet the Experts" series — 15 neurosurgeons, three generations, one mission. But this is only the beginning of the story. As Donglei Brain Hospital expands its international reach through the Belt and Road Health Corridor, trains the next generation of neurosurgeons through the Yangtze River Delta Alliance, and pushes the boundaries of what's possible in brain and spine surgery, new names will join this roster.
